Nina Simone’s words have a way of cutting through the noise and making you pause, don’t they?

The first time I heard them, they hit me like a wave. I had to pause, let the words wash over me. In that moment, I realized how true those words are in so many areas of my life. For so long, I stayed at tables where love, care, and respect were no longer present. I kept giving, trying to make things work, hoping that love would find its way back, but what I didn’t realize was that I was draining myself. I was sitting at the table, waiting for something that wasn’t there.
